Music Lessons for Children

A successful learning experience is the result of all sides of a triangle working together. Our job as dedicated teachers is to equip our students with the skills necessary to enjoy music. In addition to planning and presenting a well-rounded curriculum, we encourage and motivate our students to achieve their best. Since all of our teachers are dedicated to life-long learning, we continue to study, to practice and to participate in professional activities.

The student is expected to regularly attend lessons. A good attitude is essential. Sufficient and proper practice is the only way to ensure progress; the teacher will present appropriate practice goals to each student.

The parents' most important job is to encourage the student in the study of music. This encouragement includes scheduling the student's day so that there is sufficient time to practice, bringing and picking up your child promptly at lesson time, showing pride in the progress each child demonstrates, taking time to listen to your child perform at home, and participating in and enjoying Dallas/Music activities.

Piano Lessons (1st grade - Adult)

Learning theory, keyboard and performance skills develops confidence, coordination, and concentration that enable a student to enjoy music for a lifetime!

Several Study Plans are offered:

Plan 1: (Elementary-level students) 30-minute private and 40-minute group lesson each week.

Plan 2: (Intermediate and high school students) 45-minute private lesson each week and 40-minute group lesson every other week.

Our experience has shown that the group environment is a psychologically sound atmosphere that promotes a broader understanding, increased motivation, and frequent performance opportunities — not to mention the fun of learning with your friends! Students for whom the group lessons are not appropriate may choose:

Plan 3: 45-minute weekly private lesson.

Plan 4: Two, 30-minute, private lessons weekly.

Opportunities abound for DALLAS/MUSIC piano students: format recitals, informal piano parties, ensemble programs, master classes, keyboard Olympics, achievement auditions, festivals and contests. Our computer lab is a learning tool for music theory, history and composition.

Enrollment is for the school year (September-May). Private lessons and weeklong camps are offered during the summer.

Kinder Keys (Ages 5 and 6)

Kinder Keys is designed to be a positive first experience at the piano. Many young children who express an interest in learning piano are not ready for the demands of structured lessons.

Kinder Keys offers your child a year to develop fundamental skills at the keyboard without the practicing involved with lessons. Children learn their pieces in class and are encouraged to share their music-making with family and friends at home.

Deposit: $50.00 (non-refundable) to be returned with registration card.

Suzuki Style Flute (Ages 4 to Adult)

Students and one parent meet for private instruction one-half hour each week in a small group setting. This study involves development of extended concentration through games and assigned listening materials. This is a systematic approach to flute instruction with focus on developing a love and understanding of music in general and the flute specifically. Rate of progress is dependent on the parent’s observation of lessons and coaching at home. Large group “play-ins” may be scheduled once a month, depending on enrollment. Enrollment is for the school year (September-May). Summer lessons are also offered. A weeklong workshop is held during the summer.

Tuition $1488 Monthly Payment $173

Adult Lessons

Private instruction is available for adult students of piano, flute and guitar. Adult students enjoy informal performing during our “cabaret” nights. Whatever your taste - classical, jazz, pop, gospel, or the old standbys - the teachers at DALLAS/MUSIC can help you meet your expectations.

The Partnership: Teacher and Student
A successful learning experience is the result of both persons in the partnership working together.

Our job as dedicated teachers is to equip you with the skills necessary to enjoy music. In addition to planning and presenting a well-rounded curriculum, we encourage and motivate you to achieve your best. Since all of our teachers are dedicated to the principle of life-long learning, we continue to study, to practice, and to participate in professional activities.

On the part of the student, an openness to learning and a positive attitude are essential. Sufficient and proper practice will ensure progress; your teacher will present to you appropriate practice goals. Your level of advancement will dictate the amount of weekly practice necessary for progress - somewhere in the 2-5 hour range. Regular attendance at lessons is important.

Both sides of the partnership - teacher and student - working together, will enable you to learn more than how to play an instrument. You will increase your knowledge of music theory and music history, and develop critical listening skills. Your sense of accomplishment will give you pride and increased self-confidence. It will also be FUN! Adult students at DALLAS/MUSIC may choose the length of their weekly private lesson: 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or one hour.
